Camping at Fitzroy Provincial Park

May 19-21, 2012

Summer arrived so early this year that we were out camping on the May long weekend.  Fitzroy Provincial Park is our go to campground when we don't feel like travelling far.  It's only 30 minutes from Ottawa, is a nice clean campground, nice sites, and a nice beach.

One of our favourite things to do when camping here is catching crayfish under the "Squeaky Bridge".  (Back when I was a kid, the bridge would squeak every time a car passed over it.  It's since been repaired, but the name has stuck...)  The Carp River passes under the bridge, the water flowing over a smooth bedrock bottom and littered with loose rocks here and there.  A perfect hide-out for crayfish.

Check out some of our photos!
